What is the CBD flower?
The CBD flower is the bloom of the hemp plant that contains cannabidiol, one of its many active substances. Each cannabis plant carries male and female flowers, knowing that only the latter are consumed (the male flowers being used for the development and multiplication of seeds). It is these flowers, or “heads”, from which the active substances of the plant are extracted.
If cannabidiol is regularly found in the form of oil or liquid for vaping, it is possible to buy the CBD flower directly to consume it as such. Hemp flowers contain CBD in varying proportions.
Those that are commercially available are treated so that the share of cannabidiol is high, and that of THC very low (to be legal, the product sold must contain less than 0.2% of THC).
Does the CBD flower gets you high?
How to consume cannabidiol in the form of a flower?
The CBD flower is consumed differently from the other forms in which cannabidiol is usually found (CBD oils, electronic cigarette products, balms, crystals, candies, creams …). Generally, it is more likely to be infused, mixed with hot water. But you have to know one thing: that combustion produces harmful toxins, whatever the plant used. The positive effects of cannabidiol are thus offset by the consequences of the mode of consumption, even if these consequences are only felt in the long term and in case of regular use, as is the case with the conventional cigarette. The best way to consume the CBD flower is the infusion – like an herbal tea, yes! It is for this purpose that most products are sold in the form of flowers or grass. However, it is not enough to dive one or two flowers in a cup of hot water. If you want to take full advantage of the effects of cannabidiol, you must follow a few rules.
How to make an infusion of CBD flower?
The use of the CBD flower as a tea supposes to take into account a particularity of the cannabinoids: they are not hydrophilic, which means that they can not dissolve in water. Unlike a conventional plant that you place in water for infusion, the CBD flower keeps its cannabidiol for it. The active substance that interests us is not “communicated” to the liquid, and you end up drinking … hot water. For the CBD flower to produce effects, it must be associated with a fatty substance, oil for example. Or milk, knowing that this one is a rather long solvent. The ideal is to let the CBD flower macerate in a fat body for half an hour, even a full hour, at low temperature. That, in order to enjoy 100%. This is the method used to extract the CBD from the flower for the purpose of producing oil, for example (except that professionals rely on more powerful solvents, unfit for consumption, like butane or ethanol).
What precautions should be taken ?
With the CBD flower, as with all products containing cannabidiol, you have no special precautions to take. This substance is not considered toxic and the WHO considers that it does not present any risk of dependence. Despite the lack of studies on the subject, its effects are rather beneficial for health – although CBD can not be presented as a drug, at best as a dietary supplement.
What are the beneficial effects of the CBD flower?
The beneficial effects of CBD are proven, and valued by consumers. However, to the extent that they are not supported by enough scientific studies, it is essential to discuss them with the utmost caution. Thus, it is thought that the CBD flower would act on the pain receptors, which would allow it to calm the suffering due to chronic pathologies. It would also have a positive impact on inflammation, stress, anxiety and insomnia. As to say if the consumption of CBD flower can cure diseases, it is a step that it is not possible to cross for the moment. But studies are in progress.
